Powder mixing

Powder mixing with the ISO-MIX Mixing Technology

The ISO-MIX Rotary Jet Head mixer is mounted in the tank.

A recirculation loop is established, including a powder dispersion unit, as illustrated in the sketch.

The powder is fed into the funnel of the powder mixing system and subsequently efficiently mixed into the liquid in the recirculation loop. The slurry of liquid and dissolved powder is pumped into the tank where the ISO-MIX system distributes it in the liquid.

If the powder is difficult to dissolve, a dedicated powder mixer pump is installed in the recirculation loop. Powder mixing pumps are offered by many different manufacturers and are considered a well-proven technology.

Advantages of the technology
In addition to the increased dispersion capacity, this system offers superior performance in other ways compared to typical mechanical mixing processes:

Dust free handling without loss of powder. Neither exhaust nor filter systems are required.

The same system can be used for in-mixing of liquid ingredients by adding these to the recirculation loop.

The system can be combined with a powder handling system, thereby eliminating all manual handling of the powder, leading to improvement in the working environment.

Immediate and complete wetting of the powder, directly in the liquid stream.

No partially wetted crust at the wall of the vessel and/or the mixing shaft.
